Abstract
The Magneto-Optic Method of Chemical Analysis was studied in an effort to apply it to the solution of some problems of insecticidal activities.
A set-up, as nearly identical as possible to the one in operation at Washington University, St. Louis, Mo., was constructed and the problem of determining the reliability of the method first undertaken.
Altough every effort was expended in the attempt to check the results of Allison and to utilize the method, it was not possible to consistently check the minima of even the calibrating solutions. The personal equation was eliminated by utilizing several observers, but in no case could the observed minima be shown to be a function of the compound.
Until the reliability of the method can be definitely shown, it will be impossible to utilize it in the solution of any problem.
