KNOW YOU BY THESE PRESENTS:
WHEREAS, Eva Jessye is a Specialist in music, theater, motion pictures, radio and television production; and
WHEREAS, she was Musical Director of MGM's HALLELUJAH, the original Choir Director of Porgy and Bess, the first to interpret Virgil Thompson's Four Saints in Three Acts; and
WHEREAS, she is Director of the internationally known EVA JESSYE CHOIR and an authority on Afro-American music and customs and the recipient of many honors; now,
THEREFORE, the members of the Wisconsin Senate, on the motion of Senator Swan, under Senate Rule 97, commends Eva Jessye on the occasion of her lecture visit to Milwaukee, and for her musical achievements that have inspired many.
