Description
Illustration of George Gipp (1895-1920). Nicknamed "The Gipper", Gipp was a college football player at the University of Notre Dame [Indiana] from 1916-1920 under head coach Knute Rockne. He contracted strep throat while playing in his senior season and died three weeks later.
