Black & White photograph of the United States Eighth Army Air Force, 93rd Bomb Group, service personnel getting ready to depart Barksdale Field outside of Shreveport, Louisiana, to Fort Myers, Florida, on May 14, 1942. The typewritten article below the image describes the conditions at Fort Myers while the 93rd is stationed there and receiving a citation for sinking a German submarine, claimed by Lt. John L. Jerkstad [Jerstad]. The 93rd departed for Alconbury, England on August 13, 1942.
