Abstract
"Mrs. Horace Smith, president of the colored auxilary of the Iola Red Cross, received the following letter from Geo. Sweatt and the colored boys who left last week for Camp Funston:
Camp Funston, July 16, 1918.
Mrs. Horace Smith and the Members of the Red Cross:
We arrived safely after our tiresome ride.
The boys wish to thank you and all the members of your society for your kindness in entertaining and making it pleasant for us while there, and we especially thank you for those magnificent lunches, and hope that your trust will not be misplaced and your confidence shaken.
Wishing that you attain the greatest success in all your undertakings, I will close. Once again thanking you and your society, I remain sincerely yours.
GEORGE A. SWEATT.
Sanctioned by all 'your boys.'"
