Abstract
The problem with which this thesis is concerned is primarily that of evaluating definite integrals by means primarily that of evaluating definite integrals by means of residues. This rather necessarily implies a secondary problem, namely, methods of computing residues. Hence, this thesis attempts to give various methods of determining the residues of functions and some types of definite integrals which can be evaluated by using residues.
The method of attack was simply a perusal of the available literature on functions of a complex variable which included a discussion of residues and their applications.
This study lists eleven methods of finding residues, and fourteen types of definite integrals in which residues are used in their evaluation.
