Abstract
The problem was to organize and administer a program for community enrichment for Negroes in Saint Louis, Missouri, for the school year 1948-1949.
More specifically, an attempt has been made to do the following four things:
1. To put in tangible form an ideal of community enrichment that the author has had for many years.
2. To summarize and make a record of those desirable experiences gained since the beginning of the program in 1931; and to provide some resource material for future use.
3. To suggest a plan of community enrichment based on sound philosophy and psychology that could be used in other communities.
4. To outline a specific program for community enrichment to be used in the School of Related Arts in Saint Louis, Missouri, for the school year 1948-1949.
The curricular experiences are organized with three chief objectives in mind. These objectives are: (1) Health Education and Safety, (2) Literature and Drama, and (3) Music and Leisure.
The last chapter gives a summary and evaluation of the proposed plan as actually carried out during the school year 1948-1949.
