Abstract
This document includes overviews of the planning and design processes, reviews of construction operations, evaluations of the behavior, and performance of completed dams. Included in this document are examples of roller-compacted concrete dam construction in the U.S., South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. This document also provides information on the development of roller compacted concrete (RCC) to support the use of RCC in dam construction. This procedure offers rapid construction with a lower cost, compared with the traditional concrete practice, and challenges the economics of earthfill and rockfill embankment dams.
