Irene Philips Ertman (1917-1978) was a Pittsburg State University alumnae, and taught as an instructor in the Language Department at PSU in the early 1960s. She later taught at Missouri Western State University. Shortly after her death in 1978, her son, Robert Ertman, set up the Irene Ertman Science Fiction Collection at Pittsburg State University, adding to it periodically. The collection contains mostly mass-market paperback science fiction titles from the 1950s to present. Many of these feature colorful and artistic covers, which are sampled in this digital exhibit.
