Description
CHEROKEE, KANSAS, is a small mining community, located about ten miles South and West of Pittsburg [Kansas]; Cherokee has two banks, total deposits of $350,000., three churches, two schools, electric lights, artesian water, and paved streets. Cherokee has a population of 1500. The miners in this community generally owning their own homes.
