Description

Black & White photograph montage of American Red Cross activities held for the United States Army Air Force service personnel during World War II, circa 1942. The top left image shows two civilian women cutting a cake with a B-24 bomber cake topper on top of the cake for USAAF personnel. There are several servicemen and servicewomen from the Royal Air Force that are "Jump'n Jive" in the top right image. American Red Cross women are serving tea and tarts to servicemen in the middle left image. USAAF servicemen are chatting with a British women's civilian organization in the middle right image. A USAAF serviceman is dancing with a member of the RAF Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF), along with other service personnel who are dancing, in the bottom left image. In the bottom right image a USAAF serviceman enjoys a cup of coffee and conversation with a British civilian woman by the stove.
