The Heating Plant, now known as the Physical Plant, was built in 1913 and was the source of heat for the two other buildings on campus and all buildings constructed afterwards. Today it houses Facility Operations. "Facility Operations supports and contributes to the educational process by maintaining an environment (campus buildings and grounds) in which teaching, research, and service to the community can be achieved effectively and efficiently. Essential programs provided include building maintenance and operations, custodial services, utility distribution, energy management, landscaping, lawn care, central storeroom, carpool and vehicle maintenance, trash removal, general services, recycling services, and safety and environmental health.
