The march proceeded north along Broadway Street to the Pittsburg High School (at that time) in Pittsburg, Kansas on April 9, 1968. The march was organized by members of the Black Student Movement, Kansas State College faculty, city counsel members, and members of the Pittsburg Chapter NAACP.
