Abstract
This study attempts to suggest a valuable and practical method of selecting poems for use in junior high School literature courses. It is largely a curriculum study, based upon that recognized method of curriculum construction: an analysis of existing opinions and research results. Opinions were assembled, not only from expert educators in the several fields related to the study, but also from junior high school pupils themselves. The study is divided into three parts: first, the development of a technique for the selection of poems; second, the validation of that technique in the light of pupil interest; and third, the compilation of results and suggestions for the use of the technique in actual teaching situations.
