Abstract
The main purpose of this study was t o determine if the pupils i n grades three through six of the Horace Mann Training School, Pittsburg, Kansas were achieving in proportion to their ability.
In order to determine this the intelligence and achievement of each of the pupils was measured. The accomplishment quotients were computed from the results obtained from these two measurements.
In measuring the intelligence of the group the Otis Group Intelligence Scale was used. In grade 3B this scale was supplemented by the Stanford Revision of the Binet-Simon Intelligence Scale.
The achievement of the group was measured in both September and January, by the New Stanford Achievement Test. Comparison of this achievement was made with national norms.
A study of the accomplishment quotients was made. The accomplishment quotient of each pupil was computed by dividing his educational quotient by his intelligence quotient.
