GIRARD, KANSAS, is the county seat of Crawford County, and is located about twelve miles North and West of Pittsburg, Kansas, population of 3000; four banks, total deposits of $2,000,000.00; Girard has six churches, three schools, two theatres, electric lights, artesian water, natural gas, and paved streets. A small percent of the population are miners and live in their own homes.
