William and Hazel Angwin Chute, who both attended the Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, exchanged dozens of letters between 1946 and 1948 while William served in the U.S. military during World War II. Hazel also corresponded with her mother, Lucy May Angwin, and frequently described William's experiences overseas and traveling with him in Germany and Austria during this time period.
