Abstract

There is good reason for starong interest in the reading that children do or don't do. In today's world reading is an essential skill. Efficient reading is imporant for success in school, on the job, and in personal life. Citizenship is dependent on knowledge and udnerstanding of the world in which we live. That knowledge is in turn dependent upon reading and upon weighing, understanding, judging, and remembering what we read. The problem is to find and present methods for stimulating interest in reading in junior high school.
